Michael and I were strolling through OB (obstetrics) the other day. We like to cut through this department, because it's basically a long peaceful hallway that is relatively safe for a cardiologist (i.e. we're not likely to be sidelined by a consult or family member of one of our patients). We were suddenly assaulted by this unique odor. Michael says, "what is that?!" I respond, "I can't believe you've forgotten that odor." It was the unique smell of cauterized flesh. In this area, it can only mean one thing---a cesarean section (at least I hope that's all it means). In an attempt to be "department-specific", I quipped, "Scorched uterus". After the initial wave of nausea passed, I decided that "Scorched Uterus" would be a fantastic name for a rock band (or punk, metal, etc.)

An idea was born...I have started a small list of potential Rock/Punk band names. This should be fun! Go to the forum to see others on my list or contribute your own ideas.

Right now the only one's I can recall are "Suicide In Moderation" (destined to become, "S.I.M.")

Or "Ignorance With Intent"

I mean c'mon if Cannibal Corpse, or Genghis Tron, or even Hoobastank can make it...

Okay, I'll play...

My all-time favorite Folk Trio...

Pen, Gent & Cleo - Triplet sisters who spent several years "on the street" before being discovered by a shady promoter. Unfortunately the group had only one hit - "I Gave You Something, You Gave It Back".

hehehe...

Get it? Penicillin, Gentamycin, Cleocin? The trifecta of antibiotics. *G*

TSTL - also known as "Too Stupid To Live".

FLK - "Funny Looking Kid".

Questionable DNA

For years, I've encouraged our office manager to obtain a rubber stamp with "TDTL" (too dumb to live) to be promptly applied to the charts of those to whom it applies.

...unfortunatley, it would probably mean our practice would fold.

We write those (TSTL and FLK) on our shift report sheet. Especially FLK...Sometimes kids are born looking quite odd, like they have some syndrome or something. THEN...you meet the parents and go..."Oh...". *G*

"OMG" could be confused with the the internet vernacular for "On my god"

Years ago I saw an interview of the country group Restless Heart. When asked where they got the name, one of them said (and I paraphrase), " We put a bunch of slips of paper in a hat, both body parts and adjectives. The first one we pulled out was Rancid Liver. So we decided to try again."

Crusty Toenails

Hairy Moles - Although this one sounds familiar...almost like I've heard it before...maybe a group has already claimed it? I heard an alternative on TV somewhere...Suspicious Mole. Ew.

I remember reading about the Bay City Rollers and they picked their name by sticking a pin in a US map...which makes me kinda sad that I remembered that from so long ago...which makes me even sadder that I knew that in the first place. Ian, Derek, Les, Woody and Eric would be proud. *G*

Beats & Pisses

I made a comment about a television commercial and Rush said she couldn't believe I'd not seen the commercial before. I meant to say that I'd never seen the commercial all the way through but rather had only seen "bits and pieces" of it. Unfortunately "bits and pieces" came out as "beats and pisses". Tadaa! There you have it---another rock band name!

Apparently the phenomenon that caused me to accidentally alter the phrase is called metathesis.
